Flooring doesn't have to be boring
We started the process of rebranding the visual identity for renowned flooring company Nordby Gulv in the spring of 2018. The company has nearly 50 years of experience delivering flooring solutions to both private and corporate clients, selling high end products from suppliers like Bolon and Timberwise. The current owner has worked at Norby Gulv since the 1990’s and took over the company in 2012. After having recently redecorated the showroom, it felt like the right time for the visual identity to have a facelift, too. We couldn’t have agreed more, and went happily to work developing Nordby Gulv’s sophisticated new visual identity.

"THE N IS THE BEGINNING"
Nordby Gulv’s original logo had a very literal and straighforward appearance that needed a more elegant and modern look to reflect their high-end and stylish product line. Since the name ”Nordby” was a big part of the company identity and had been since the beginning, we decided to focus on the inital ”N”, creating a letter logo. It was inspired by the classic parquet herringbone pattern and shaped to create an infinity pattern. Infinite quality, infinite style.
The typography consists of three fonts. A chunky sans-serif is used for headlines, paired with a classic serif font for bodytext. Subtitles and paragraph intros are written with a monospaced font, providing variation without cluttering
Expression and colors naturally correspond to the overall visual identity. Clean, clear and concise arrangement. The black background makes the images pop and stand out.
